Get to know me!

Rebecca Korzelius, soprano, is known to have a "velvety voice" in which she sings as a crossover artist in both musical theatre and classical venues. Crossover work is something that Rebecca is passionate about and holds as a standard for her own vocal studio.

Recently making her international opera debut, Rebecca performed as Frasquita in International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia's production of Carmen. Other operatic credits include Fanchette (The Lantern Marriage), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica). In addition, Rebecca has performed as Gertrude (Seussical), Rapunzel (Into the Woods), and in the ensemble of shows such as Jekyll and Hyde, Oklahoma!, and Pippin. She also holds both the local and state level title of the Ann Graham McCurdy Vocal Art award, as well as advancing in both state and regional level NATS.

In addition to her performance work, Rebecca is also a passionate voice teacher who believes in not only the benefits of vocal technique within voice lessons, but also the personal growth of her students. By working on something as vulnerable as their voices, students not only develop healthy technique, but also confidence, creativity, and an outlet of self-expression. While Rebecca's own background is in classical and musical theatre repertoires, she has worked with students in countless other genres such as sacred, popular, and jazz music.

Rebecca has studied under Dr. Theresa Bickham and Dr. Robert Bracey at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she will graduate with a Bachelors in Music Performance in May.
